Presidential Endorsements

First and foremost, I am a libertarian. I am a small government fiscal conservative and social liberal. For this reason, I have supported the most viable of the anti-war candidates in this election, Ron Paul. He is a Republican from Texas.

Professionally, he spent a number of years as an OB in Texas before becoming a Republican congressman, first running in 1978. He left the Republican Party briefly and ran as the Libertarian Party’s presidential candidate in 1988 before returning to the Republican Party where he has served as a congressman since 1996. He has run on a platform of abolishing the IRS and the income tax, withdraw from Iraq and other overseas military commitments, a drastic reduction of the size and scope of the federal government, and a host other other libertarian/Liberty Republican planks. Ron Paul raised more money than any other Republican candidate in the 4th quarter of 2007 and has consistently raised more money from military personnel than all other Republican candidates combined. He is a pariah amongst big government neo-conservatives who challenges major assumptions amongst today’s role of government. He is the only true anti-war, small government candidate running in this election. For this reason, I support the nomination of Ron Paul as president.

If you would like to learn more about libertarianism, this video goes a long way in explaining pretty much any question the philosophy of libertarianism may be posed.

You can view that video here.

Kate has yet to endorse a presidential candidate. I bug her. Daily. [03/08/2008 Update: She has endorsed Obama.]
